The 1-4 skip is annoying as hell! I've gotten used to working around it in my CTS-V by mostly starting out in 2nd, but if I forget I sometimes find myself madly downshifting to get more needed...
That's it, that's what it does. It might mess you up a little until you get used to it, or figure out how to defeat it by revving the engine a bit.
Did the stick trainer mention anything about Skip-shift? And does your car have it? It messes me up sometimes on my Caddy CTS-V.
