I had hip surgery about 6 months ago.The doctor said I could lift but lower body would have to be from my normal physical therapy (so no squats, deadlifts, etc ..). BOO!!!

If I am doing a push/pull/legs ... I hit everything twice a week. Do I try to increase weight both times in that week if I hit all reps or better to do strength training the first 3 and lighter...
You need to cut fat first and foremost.
If you are really pushing yourself, you should be able to gain some strength and lose some weight at the same time. Just lift as heavy as you can and drop...
More than likely it is just water weight. I know when I cut, the first week I lose all kinds of pounds.
Just keep going with your cut ... if you notice a lot of weight continuing to come off, then...
