You can hit those slow twitch fibers all you want, but slow twitch fibers won't grow to the point where you notice a significant difference in size.
In my opinion there is no point in going so high in reps. You willl be hitting mostly your slow twitch fibers, which is a nice thing, but won't give you any SIZE.
