Lyle McDonald advocates staying at Maintenance for 2 weeks before transitioning from cut/bulk bulk/cut. There is some horomonal reason, that's above my pay grade to try and explain LOL.

I sometime work out at PF. I don't like Smith squats either. I use that plate loaded leg press, and do some leg ext and leg curl. Weight is weight, gravity is gravity.
