If you want to go really heavy duty then I think stall mats would be better, but haven't seen those before.

I bought a heavy duty dip belt to do belt squats with, for those who have the spud belt, do you think it's tougher than a good dip belt, meaning it can resist more weight?

I would also cover the carpet as well, if you accidentally drop a weight plate or come down hard with a barbell it'll protect the concrete, unlike thin carpet.

I'm not sure but I think that power hooks can fit on powerblocks, that solves the part of starting out and finishing your set.

It's not really when they're already on the barbell, it's when I'm loading/ unloading them, and also when I accidentally drop one on the concrete floor.

I can't stand the clanking of weight plates hitting each other, and especially when I accidentally drop one, the noise they make can get really hard on the ears. I thought about wrapping them in duct...

I just did the exact same thing to my weight plates as well, the first step of cleaning the rust off was a lot easier with a wire wheel attachment on the drill compared to sitting there scrubbing...
