    Sadly, it has no use aside from extracting bicycle cranks. For some reason, bicycle maintenance requires a lot of really specialized tools that don't have any other applications.

    Placing the crank back on the spindle and then tightening the fixing bolt is the way to do it. The crank extractor is only used when removing the cranks.

    You should be good to go.
