Sadly, not gonna happen. The biggest leap in research of our lifetime (me and you) will be machine learning. Quantum computers are no near to anything and nuclear fusion seems far away from us.
You should read the Stephen Hawking books. It's easy for beginners to understand. Then I suggest you to get some basics physics by reading the Feynman Lectures on Physics (especially 1 and 2).
