tell him to look up gluconeogenesis. and also most people dont figure protein intake on lbm, which is a mistake considering fat doesnt need protein. 1-1.5g/lb of lbm is plenty (more is not better!)

i know a lot of guys (including myselft) that see results in the gym slow every 4-6 weeks. when this happens i will take a week off the gym. or just have a week of low intensity. try that.
that ratio may be fine. i would personally do something like 150g pro per day and 25% daily calories from fat. then adjust carbs depending on weigh gain or loss. maybe start with 150-200g carbs. also...
first thing you need to do is start eating protein with every meal. then you need find out what your macro needs are and adjust the meals to fit the numbers.
keep protein and calories the same on training days and off days. i personally adjust carbs/fats whether i am training or not. but you dont have to do this.
