Yeah, based on what I've heard, you're not always on the move like you would be for a marathon. People take breaks for ice baths or to eat food and stuff.
6.5 mph converts to a 9:14 pace roughly. That seems pretty fast for a beginner, but I don't know your athletic history. On most runs, you should be able to barely maintain a conversation with someone.
I've spoken to a few of my teammates who have ran 100 milers. The general consensus is you don't need to do anything longer than 30-40 miles because it will consume your entire day.
Has anyone tried Newtons before? I have a friend who's crazy fast and swears by them, but I'm not completely sold. $200 for a pair of running shoes seems quite steep.
I rotate between 3 pairs mainly to extend the life of all of them. I also have a pair I use for short races (5 miles or less). They're super light but offer minimal support.
