Avoid ANY rubber coated handles. Go with knurled.

In short order, whatever crappy glue the manufacturer uses to adhere the rubber to the lat handle metal will fail. The rubber will turn around the handle making it difficult to focus on your lats...

Agreed. Rows are for the whole back.

Everything in the back overlaps. Here's a little tip for rows. These things really help you get those few extra reps at the end.

Try these things. They're about 5 bucks. I tried them at Muscle Beach and they made a really big difference. (Those Lynx things don't grip like these.)

Try these if you don't like gloves, etc.

    www.bigbackgrips.com

They'll cut back on calluses and let you do more weight on back, etc. They're like 5 or 6 bucks and they feel really good.

If you don't like straps, these Big Back things are really good.

If you do reverse hand deadlifts, or for just about any back workout, these things really rock for about 5 bucks. www.bigbackgrips.com

The problem with most gloves is they don't grip metal.

They just pad against calluses, but they get so nasty and a lot of guys just don't like all the sweat and bacteria colonies that accumulate. These are the ones I use. Very inexpensive, very...
  • i like that

Maybe just cuzz I like skim milk.
  • My real objection is strictly that standing calf machine.

No, I'm not opposed to shrugs, deadlifts or squats. Those distribute weight more evenly. (If you have back issues, you need to make your own decision and find a style that is safe and effective for...

These are the best grips I've tried. (And I've tried them all.)

They are called Big Back Lifting Grips. (The Lynx just aren't very comfortable or "grippy".) Even the really smooth bars in the gym don't slip, and the knurled (rough) bars actually feel really...
  • The best equipment was about 6 bucks.

They are these little rubber lifting grips/pads. I got a pair at the LA Fitness Expo this year and have gotten about a bunch for friends since then. Big Back Grips. They have really changed my back...
