Protein shakes are much easier, cheaper, and faster to make than, say, chicken breasts, or just about any other source. They digest quicker, and are more likely to have a more balanced amino acid...
The programs are designed a certain way for specific reasons by experienced professionals. I'm not saying to never deviate from them EVER, but your suggestion was just retarded.
I don't really have a problem with most of what you said, but continuing to recommend to a beginner that he make his own program just rubs me the wrong way.
