If my meal is too close to the time I go to the gym/take my prework out. The preworkout doesn't feel as effective due to the food diluting/absorbing the PWO.
Personally, I find a protein rich meal an hour before going to the gym gives me the most energy. I feel carbs make me a bit sluggish and sometimes sleepy if it's from bread or pasta.
