It's really been too long since I watched either one. But the scene that sticks in memory is the crazy one with the two guys (one 'straight') 'taking a break' from putting away gym equipment.
If anything I'd say friendships got better (certainly more comfortable). Family took a little bit of time to settle down/get used to the idea, but now it's great.
