grad school is a lot more self-selecting than undergrad...people have a good idea whether or not they will "make the cut" if that makes sense.

GMAT/GPA/Work experience

If any of those aren't excellent, you better hope to god the other 2 are beyond excellent. Harvard B-school is the hardest b-school to get into.
