Its a common movement and done the right way should have no more of an affect on your tendons then any other shoulder lift.
Try sticking with a Plan man, Do 8,10,or 12 weeks of a bulk then switch and do 8,10 or 12 weeks of a cutt and repeat. ALWAYS PLAN

Dont get hung up on numbers man, everyone is different. Do you and let other do them, If you feel like your gaining and getting to where you want to be then the number shouldn't matter that much,
If there is no discomfort or pain I would think alot of it might be mentally, I have a real shoulder injury and it is painful, you learn to either live with it or get it fix.
But in the end, do whatever works for you
