    I don't get the "gym lifts mean nothing". So a guy touch n go's 250kg bench in the gym and it means "nothing". Guy the same size/weight comp presses 100kg and it means "something"?

    Sounds like you should go a large, that way if you do "accidently" put on more size round the mid section your covered. And if you do bottom it out you can always punch new holes in it
