agreed with this completely. The supplements will help OP... but diet will be most important. That being said... i liked what kre-alkalyn did for me (always gives me a good pump in the gym)....

My .02 .... I'd go with a cheap simple whey protein.... and pick up some kre-alkalyn (buffered creatine). Bodybuilding.com has a deal of like 240 capsules for $22 or something... which lasts me 120...
