When you say pay raise, what do you mean? The base pay goes up, but not to the next grade?

I know you go from E3 to E4 in about 22 months.

Sir, I'm just curious about how they track things, and seems to me that they go by days; I'm mostly curious because of pay. (I'm not joining just because of the money + benefits, minor reason)

How does the USAF track months?
Do they go by four weeks? (Ex: Friday, Aug 1st to Friday, Aug 29)
Do they go by the days? (Ex: Friday, Aug 1 to Sunday, Aug 31)
