You can weld Stainless with Mig, you just need a Tri-Mix gas cylinder and the correct wire.
Who told you that you have to Tig it? Bad welds with any welding process will leak.

Yes you can back purge with Helium but it is expensive as fk.

Agree, I've seen a lot of welders come and go. I work mostly with exotic metals (Titanium, Zirconium, Duplex Stainless, etc.) so its mainly tig. Once in a while we throw in some flux and mig.
