If you want to retain/gain the most amount of muscle while cutting down the slower you cut down the better. If you're losing a significant amount of strength then you're either cutting down too fast...

If you can consistently get stronger using that split, then that's all that matters. If not, then you might want to break it down into a 3/day MWF split.
