on days I dont work out, I'll take protein powder if I need help hitting my protein goal for the day. Otherwise, I don't take protein on off-days

Taking a multivitamin with food is more importantly going to help your body break down the tablet/capsule. I prefer to take my anavite with my morning and evening meals, I would not recommend taking...
what part of the formula change do you not like?
flavoring is tweaked to be better and the carb formula was adjusted to include cyclic dextrin, if you are upset about leucine going from 5g to 4g,...
Whey protein concentrate if you can stomach it.
Whey protein isolate if you have trouble with digestion.

Magnesium oxide is a cheap ingredient and has very low absorption in your body - that should be your major concern and make you re-think the multivitamin you purchase!
