if you cut slow enough the muscle mass loss is negligible, 10 lbs should take ~10wks (you might be holding some water weight too tho when you transition to deficit you'll find out how much)
if you want to get leaner then cut, it doesn't matter just do what your goals are lol

If you're new to lifting and your routine doesn't have a lot of volume then you'll be fine.
Just make sure to eat enough and get good sleep.
