I actually like a little bit of pad gap, so I don't slide around while doing crunches on my bench

I've got a lot of work to do this year. I worked out routinely in 2015, but not with focus and I was nursing a rotator and knee inflammation issues. I put on 19 lbs lost about 15% strength. Sucks...
Today I made a new calf block out of some scrap steel and some old handles from a bbq grille lol

This. I will add that pad width and firmness is also important to me. I've owned some nice commercial grade benches and the pads tended to be too wide for my frame and pinched the skin on my shoulder...

I had a hammer strength calf it was nice.
