To me they seem good for strengthening the core and building ab muscle, but you still won't see anything if you have abominal fat. Good for the core though in my opinion..........

If you are becoming unevenly strong from pullups, you could always do towel pullups. Thats where you have towel on your strong side and pull with the weak side, like an assisted one arm pullup....
