OP, when you cannot get the cals you need, fats are your friend. A quick PB sandwhich could be an easy 600 cals. Remember, fats are not bad for you, excess calories are. So...

Are you on a caloric surplus? If not, it's pretty hard to gain mass (besides newb gains)
surplus coupled with a nice hypertrophy routine and you're good to go.
