Okay here is a quick update, in 5 days i dropped 5 pounds and for lunch we went out with coworkers and i had pasta.
Kind of regret it now, but i guess I’ll start again.
its ok, overnite when you sleep you will get back automatcally back into keto cycle.

So do you not any carbs during the week? Not even a small amount, say around 30 grams? It just seems easier that way.

Where did you get that idea? Of course you eat carbs during the week. In fact, people on keto eat more green vegetables than most people on a "balanced" diet. You eat a load of high fiber vegetables, usually 20-30g or so a day, plus a small amount of dextrose in your PWO shake. And of course, your actual carb-up as well.
-
just a quick question: is it an absolute no to eat carbs that have sugars in them because like the cheddar cheese i have had 2g carbs comes from 2g sugars

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I wasn't positive. I don't know where I got that idea, just seemed like the message I was getting.

Sounds like you've got bad cheddar. Good cheddar has less than 1g of carbs per 100g of cheese.

Undoubtedly from all the experts who are busy telling you why keto will kill you.

Are turkeydogs ok?
everything i eat is pretty strict on Fat/Protein but i'm just wonderin if the turkeydogs are frowned on. they have 9g fat and 7g protein. what would you say would be the healthiest way to prepare them?
-
Never heard of them. What's in them?
-
cholesterol
How is the high amount of cholesterol going to affect the body? In general?
How is the high amount of cholesterol going to affect the body? In general?
It's good for it.
One study in the University of Texas took two groups of older men, fed them the same calories and made them do the same weightlifting workouts. At the end of the 3 month study, the low cholesterol group had made a small increase in strength and no significant change in muscle mass. The high cholesterol group had a big increase in strength and a big increase in muscle mass too.

i've eaten turkey sausage and turkey bacon on keto before. if they don't have sugar in them, they are probably ok. unless they are some crazy product that isn't just a turkey based hotdog

As far as the training goes...I do a three day lifting split. Its a leg day, followed by arms/shoulders, followed by chest/back. Sometimes I throw cardio in on off days.
-Can I work with the provided training schedule in the original post (not following it completely)? Maybe I could do my typical split, then the depletion at the end of the week. I would have to reduce volume, thats for sure. But the three day split works with my schedule.
-As far as cardio, I like to do cardio for heart/overall health. Are there any recommendations on cardio while on CKD? Im guessing HIIT is out of the question...surely without carbs to fuel, muscle loss will occur.
Thanks.

If you have a routine that works for you, stick with it. There's no magic in the one in the stickies, it's just a suggestion.
Cardio is not as essential on keto, and if you are flagging, you can dial back a little in the first couple of weeks, then it's business as usual. HIIT is still possible, and very effective, but it's hard. Mind you, HIIT is hard no matter what you are eating. I tend to think of HIIT as heavy lifting for your heart and lungs.

Just use whole butter.. I will quote from undergroundnutritionist.com. Margarine is one molecule away from plastic, just use whole butter it's better for your body

ok thanks and also is this whole starvation mode thing true, cuz ive been eating around 1500 calories and feel great on keto whereas on a regular diet i felt hungry all day even after 3000 calories. sometimes i even have to force myself to eat on keto cuz my parents are worried about me (im 17). will eating around that hinder my weight loss? i just wanna lose around 10-15 lbs in 1-2 months

When is it necessary to implement the PWO shake, assuming one is just starting keto for the first time?
When is it necessary to implement the PWO shake, assuming one is just starting keto for the first time?
PWO shake from the beginning, as long as you are lifting hard. Keep to one scoop of whey (aroiund 30g or so) and you'll be fine.

Starvation mode exists, but the clue is in the name. Starvation. If you are so hungry that you are obsessed with food. If you can't sleep for hunger. If you are always cold. If you can't concentrate for thoughts of food. If you have no energy to workout. Then it's likely you are in starvation mode, and though you will continue to lose weight, your body will fight it and the amount you lose will be lower then you'd expect from the calories you are consuming.
On keto, eat to hunger. The ideal is when you are hungry coming up to meal times, and not between meals, and have plenty of energy to live your life and hit the weights hard in the gym.

Where to start ?
Hey
i became injured in rugby, and had 6 months off any exercising due to a compressed spine, im now back at the gym, lfiting weights is fine etc, but my problem is a diet...
i've been looking at various diets, and a CKD looks like it might actually work!
i have a mate who has done it and has done very well.
so i was thinking of trying it out myself...
however the problem for me is where to start ?
im not too quick on the "carbs to weight ratio's" etc...
so any feedback would be very helpful as i am very keen to get going on this diet.
so please feedback me any info on easy ways to find out and set out a correct diet plan for myself...
if it helps im 95kg full body weight
29% body fat
60% muscle mass
if that helps ?
cheers

ok i feel great, my lifts havent suffered and my HIIT is going strong so i guess this shudnt be much of a problem. I just got a few more questions
1. is it bad to take a pre-workout shake during keto?
2. is that final workout before the carbup supposed to be for all muscles?
3. i chew a pack of orbit gum everyday, will it keep me out of ketosis?
4. if i dont do my workout of a certain muscle (ex. legs) during my week, but i did upper body, should i carb up?
5. i got school, and school pretty much has nothing keto so i wait till i get home to eat which can be around 6 and then i start pretty much eating to make up for lost calories. is that ok or should i just take sumthing to school to eat? i usually dont cuz i gotta cook early then and barely have enough time to make school.
thanks a lot

Is it ok to take pre-workout while on the keto diet? I.E. Jack3d, White flood... stuff like that?
-
Hey guys. I've been considering a keto diet, and for today, I decided to try it for one day. So far my meals look like this
Breakfast-3 eggs -220 calories
Lunch- tuna fish with a bit of mayo (350 calories)
I am now raising a few questions
1. fast food? I was considering heading to micky D's getting a few burgers, and taking off the buns and eating them. I take it they are high in fat?
2. according to my counter, I have more protein than fat. Cooking with olive oil can help me correct?
3. How long does it take to go into Ketosis? (Its been a day and I feel kinda weird (I'm use to carbs)
4. Isn't this diet dangerous? I've heard this can be poisonous to the body.
5. Its hard to shake the stigma- Cholestol from eggs won't hurt me too bad?
Thanks guys!

Anyone eles bulk using this?

There are better fast food options. Mcdonalds patties are so thin, you wouldn't be getting much food. If you live on the West coast, in and out serves burgers protein style with lettuce wrappers instead of buns. Carl's Jr has a similar version of this and the size of the actual hamburger is much bigger.
2. according to my counter, I have more protein than fat. Cooking with olive oil can help me correct?
I don't know what your counter is. I would consider drinking tablespoons of olive oil, increasing the mayo in your tuna, cooking with coconut oil. I'd have to see your entire day to help more with suggestions.
3. How long does it take to go into Ketosis? (Its been a day and I feel kinda weird (I'm use to carbs)
For most people 24-72 hours. It can fluctuate. That said when I entered ketosis, I didn't "feel" any different.
4. Isn't this diet dangerous? I've heard this can be poisonous to the body.
No.
5. Its hard to shake the stigma- Cholestol from eggs won't hurt me too bad?
Nope.
Thanks guys!
Responded to your questions above in the quote.

hey i kinda feel dumb asking this, but what would happen if i like pigged out in between and got back on keto after like 3 days cuz i gotta go away from home to some relatives who pretty much dont have keto food. will i really gain a lot of fat?

Bulking
I've been on the Anabolic Diet for about 12 weeks or so and found it to my my ultimate answer to my B.E.D. I always struggled with having just a little bit of a good thing, yet, oddly, having no sugar, no carbs seems to keep it completely under control.
I'm working on adding size slowly, without gaining any more abdominal fat than I already have. After 3 weeks of lifting this phase, I'm still at 175.4 - no higher than before. That was at 3,000 calories a day, I'll be bumping this up to 3600 a day now, but my question is, should the calories be the same on lifting days as rest days for a slow, clean bulk?
Thanks
