he is kind of a dick. and he is playing mon morning qb. i don't think he ever had any experience at altitude prior. denali maybe? i am a krakauer fanboi though. tbh i didn't find thin air very scathing of boukreev. the entire thing was a cluster with a noon turn around time (very late) that was ignored (wat).
where do they poop on the way up?
i dont understand why they couldnt TRY to help the lady back down? or shoot a flare or something. i think its more likely they are like "i spent 80,000 dollars on this ****. im not stopping to help that skinny old ugly bitch." which is fine but dont pretend like you just couldnt do anything.
i would take equipoise to increase my red blood cell count, and possibly tren to help me retain mass and keep warm but tren makes you short of breath which is not good. i imagine some of us here are in just as good if not better shape than most of those crotchety old climbers. the idea of climbing is cool but when you factor in avalanches and hidden pitfalls in the snow, and falling and breaking your leg and no one being able to help you.. it seems kind of stupid to me. if you are ABLE to climb mount everest, you shouldnt have anything to prove to anyone or yourself. you gotta be some unconfident loser to feel like you have to climb the worlds tallelst mountain.. or some attention seeking douche. why dont you help an animal, child, or homeless person. no one cares if you can climb a mountain you ****ing prick
Dont be dumb. It takes a dozen men to get one body back at altitudes that high. You realize that right? Those that are making the climb and pass someone dieing could always radio it in but they are not equipped in the least bit to rescue someone.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juanito_Oiarzabal
Juan Oiarzabal Urteaga, commonly known as Juanito Oiarzabal is a noted Spanish Basque mountaineer and has written four books on the subject. He was the sixth man to reach 14 summits of more than 8,000 meters,[2] and the fourth in reaching them without artificial oxygen. He was the first person to conquer the top 3 summits (Everest + K2 + Kangchenjunga) twice, and he is also the oldest climber to summit Kangchenjunga, at almost 53.[3]
In 2004, he lost all his toes to frostbite after summiting K2.[6]

Messner. Solo. No Oxygen. How bout that.
Apa Sherpa
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apa_Sherpa
Apa (born Lhakpa Tenzing Sherpa; c. 1960),[1] nicknamed "Super Sherpa",[2] is a Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer who holds the record for reaching the summit of Mount Everest more times than any other person. He has climbed the mountain twenty times as of May 2010[update]. As part of The Eco Everest Expedition 2010, Apa made his 20th Mount Everest summit in May 2010.[3]
Apa first reached the summit of Mount Everest on his fourth attempt, on May 10, 1990, with a New Zealand team led by climber Rob Hall along with Peter Hillary, son of Edmund Hillary.[10] He then began his career as Sirdar, or chief Sherpa, for many high altitude expeditions. He has reached the summit every year between 1990 and 2010, bar 1996 and 2001; all but three times have been in May, and in 1992 he reached the summit twice.

I actually didn't either. I thought from reading Ed Viesturs book that it would be much worse.
All Krakauer really said was that he should have had oxygen, and that he didn't think that he could have had a conversation with the team leader about going back to camp IV, since the team leader was already too far away from him. I don't know if that second part is addressed in the Climb though.
where do they poop on the way up?
there is poop everywhere on the mountain. lack of O causes biodegration to slow, there is **** everywhere up there.
if you climb denali you have to pack your shiit out. the rangers weigh your shiit bags and fine you if you don't have enough.
if this is real then it's an eye opener

this guy is impressive for sure. not sure if 20 summits beats a summit -O2
I would steal equipment off of the dead people if it was nicer than mine.
What is the point of climbing a mountain?
Because it's there.

Another one,
Sherpa Babu Chiri was recognized for reaching the summit 10 times, staying 21 hours at the top without oxygen, as well as doing the speed ascent of the mountain.
Those sherpas must have blood thick as toothpaste.

their entire population has lived at 7-9K' for thousands of years, so they are just built for it. pretty crazy.
damn, must be strange going past dead bodies.
my dad is climbing mount everest next summer... pay $60k to a group of sherpas and they go with you.
u mad?
Not mad at all, the risks are still the same, having sherpas with you does not give you a 20% boost in oxygen or surround your body in heat...he still has a great chance of dying if he attempts to go all the way up.
U mad?
were there videos itt?

Just a lil bit...
My old roommate is big into rock climbing. I've tried it a couple of times with him. I just don't see the fun in it, but then again people don't see the fun in lifting weights and shooting guns.
Those sherpa's most be in incredible shape to be carrying a crapload of weight up and down that mountain every climbing season.
