At least spell it right.
For kitchen knives go Japanese.

lets see how long it holds.

Bought a stand alone Wasabi knife from Goodwill for $4, and the thing is crazy good. Have a JA Henckels set we got for a wedding present, and that one knife is far superior.
Have any of you handled the Hi Jinx in person?
I love the looks of this, I bet it melts in your hand.
But that price..... 400 bucks for a Columbia River folder? U FOCKIN WAT???
I guess it won knife of the year for 2014 so that's cool, but 400 bucks?!
those look pretty affordable for kitchen swords. good quality? seems sketchy the way they are described as 'clad' but i know very little about kitchen knives. I'd like to get one of those big boys from cut brooklyn after I watched their videos but my current knives do the trick for now.
From what I've read, they're pretty nice. In the $200 dollar range for a chef knife, there are much worse knives you could get. I've got a shun fuji in SG2 right now that I'm really enjoying but it's only a 6" inch and I want about 8-9" for my next one...plus I want to try out AS steel.
I've owned a Shun 8" classic chef's knife for the past year and it is outstanding.
Edit: Also, you can buy them at bed bath & beyond and use a 20% off coupon to get an even better price.

Speaking of kitchen knives, anyone have any recommendations for a set? I've been thinking about a Ginsu set but there's gotta be something better out there. Would prefer to keep it under $150.
Just get a good 10" chef, then a good paring knife.
Good usable keychain knife?

Ginsu is alright, but certainly not the best. Really depends on how professional you want to get.

^ that's one I was looking at. The wood handles look nice, but in reality the fibrox ones are easier to clean and (I think) hang onto less bacteria, etc.

Small spydie slipits? (Bug, grasshopper)

Small spydie slipits? (Bug, grasshopper)
thinking bug or honeybee. Pretty cheap too
thinking bug or honeybee. Pretty cheap too
Yeah that would be worthwhile.
If you wanted to spring for something higher quality:

Dat ZDP-189 steel. It is around 2.5" closed though, so it would take up a lot more space than the bug, but not much more than the honeybee.
What is blade length? Think that is on my wish list.
Strider sold, sold a shun as well. Now looking for a 210-240mm gyuto under $300. It never ends..

Under 2" for both the Manbug and Ladybug. Both are really nice, but I think the manbug is thicker. For around $50, seems like a solid buy for a keyring knife.

Is that the new version with the 12 inch handle?

I've been looking at those but the vg10 turns me off for $250+. Ive heard he does wonders with the heat treating but I feel like no matter how much you push something like vg10, Aogami super or Sg2/R2 will be a bit better. I can definitely appreciate a nice steel on a folder, I figure might as well get a premium steel in my kitchen knives.
Edit: I think I'm getting a kono Hd2 if I can find it in ebony handles.

Have heard mixed reviews. Some were saying they didn't believe the steel was at the caliber stated via home cutting tests, but I think they're an alright brand overall. Quite new too.

I came close to getting that serrated Dragonfly Salt, bought a Nitecore SRT6 though. I use torches a lot more than my knife each day at work.
Thinking of grabbing some linesman/electrician pliers soon too. Was impressed with the Milwaukee compared to the Knipex in some vids.
Probably going to snag another Sage 1 or the Spyderco Bradley if I can get them cheap again.
Had a neat encounter with a state patrol officer yesterday at work.
He grabbed me wrist, took a look at my Lum-Tec watch and said "My Man!!!" Then proceeded to show me the one he had on. I've only seen 2 LT's in public, neither of which were like mine. (only 150 made of mine)
We got to talking about watches and I asked him if he was also a "knife guy" to which he whipped out a big ass H&K fully automatic. :D
I had my Sage on me at the time and he was mirin hard. Cool story bro.
