yes and i'd even suggest it due to the high content of omega 3 fatty acids, salmon has a huge array of health benefits.
Only difference I see is that Salmon contains more fat. Therefore has more calories then Tuna. Alternating the two is a good idea not to get sick of a perticular taste. Both are great!!
Tuna is also cheaper then Salmon..

Salmon is great, probably better than tuna. Tuna's usually cheaper, but it has much more mercury than salmon does, too, and you want to limit your mercury intake.
Salmon is probably better for you overall (good quality protein, what fat it has is good for you, less likelihood of Mercury contamination). The only negatives are that it is a little more expensive and some people do not like its flavor as much as tuna. Don't know about mackerel, as 30cm mentioned. Might have to give that a try. ;)

but all that fat is OMEGA 3's!!!!!! they are amazing for you........eat both!!!!! i buy that packs of salmon and have like 1 a day its 90 calories only but i look for the omega 3's in it more then the protien, i eat the tuna more for the protien.......
but both are GREAT FOR YOU!!!!! They rank on GOD level food for me
heres a list of GOD foods
1) Skinless, boneless lean chicken breast
2) Salmon
3) Tuna
4) Shrimp
5) Skim milk plus (100 calories but 2 extra g's of protien :p)
6) Lean turkey breast
I always have those things in my house, soon as one of those runs out its food shopping time!!!!1 (note i only eat shrimp now and then cuz its more expensive then everything else, but I always have a can around in case I am in the mood :-)
yup...
i eat both salmon and tuna...once in awhile i eat some halibut or cod as well.
canned tuna i eat pretty much everyday with pea soup. i like fresh salmon better...but as everybody points out it's more $$$. fresh tuna (like hawaiian ahi) is even more expensive...but also tastes great.
i also have salmon, tuna, and other seafood in sushi/sashimi at least once a week.
other protein staples i am always stocked up on are eggs whites and non-fat cottage cheese. just fast as hell to prepare a quick protein meal with these.
my personal philospophy is (even while bulking, like i am now) is to eat as lean as possible and top up fat calories with fish and/or flax.
Doug
i should move back to portugal, lol
How much on average does everyone pay for salmon/tuna. Not sure about the frozen salmon/tuna I buy, but I can find cans of white chunk tuna in water at Aldis for under 50cents.
For the mercury content...people who live on a mediterranean diet eat SO much fish. If I ate a can a ady of tuna, would I really be in that much danger?
Sardines!!!! Nobody has said anything about sardines, very cheap.

I purchase the albacore tuna, which is perhaps $1.20/6 oz. can on sale. The salmon runs about $1.50. Prices vary, depending on the sale.
Regarding Mercury content, different people are susceptible to different degrees. At a can a day you are a little past the "safe" maximum recommended by health officials, but you are likely to still be OK.

I buy my fresh salmon for 7.99/lb at costco and go through 6 oz / day every day in a spinach salmon salad.

Something tells me these guys don't need your advice anymore.
A big thing that is not too known about wild caught salmon is the presence of astaxanthin which is a newer 'supplement' and gaining in popularity because of how powerful it is. If you eat 4 ounces of wild caught salmon you have taken around 4mg of astaxanthin and the recommended dose is 4-12mg a day so a can of pink salmon that goes for $2.78 in Wal-Mart near where I live I eat half one hour after workout and the other half 4 hours after. The 14.75 ounce can of salmon has about 80 grams of protein which is the main priority, but to include 6 mg or so of astaxanthin per sitting putting me at 12mg a day which is cool because t the cheapest prices the natural astaxanthin cost about 20 bucks a month in order to take 12mg a day. 2 in 1 baby! So if you have not studied astaxanthin, it is an exciting one.
The day I find low sodium canned Salmon.....
Tuna is just super convenient... I love me some salmon, but takes effort to grill ;)
