Yeah I got that message loud and clear over on MyFitnessPal.com when a friend there posted a topic about my progress and put a link to my blog. The shizzz storm that resulted was epic. Pages of people calling me "gross" and "disgusting" and such. I get it. Some people don't like muscle on women (and I don't even have that much). Some don't like the lean chiseled look either. That's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... and while I respect that... I also don't give a shizz what they think. It's MY body. These are MY goals. I made a blog post in response to that whole fiasco and here is a quote from it...
"If you are utterly disgusted by the notion of wrapping your arms around a girl like me... I have some great news for you... you'll never have the privilege of enduring that kind of torture. :P"
^^Boom. nuff said.
Your beautiful and inspire me.

I was talking to another gym member the other day and mentioned I was bulking because I wanted more muscle. He asked why. I just told him I wanted to be more awesome. That pretty much settled that.
I did find it quite heartening to read about a recent poll by a UK company that runs bootcamps with Olympic heptathlete Jessica Ennis named as the person whose body most respondents would like to have. Skinny "celebrities" Victoria Beckham and Alexa Chung were voted least attractive by the women. 81% of (straight) men who replied also said they would rather date an athletic woman. Of course, these results are somewhat skewed because the sort of people who go to bootcamps want to be (and look) fitter but hey, it's a start. I think having the Olympics in my country has helped promote healthier, fitter bodies as being more desirable and that can only be a good thing.

I think muscular women look great and I think most agree... haters always gonna hate :P ignore them.

Women + muscles = beautiful
When i see a woman who has put the time and effort into working towards what they want, gym, school, work, etc... then i respect them immensely for that.

I'm not where I want to be yet but when I'm looking at a woman and trying to size her up the first thing I look for is muscular legs and butt so see if she squats. If missing both then I tell myself it's probably not going to work out. When I was totally fat and out of shape I found any "skinny" body attractive, skinny-fat included. Now my standards have gone up and I feel like I need someone that works out with real weights. I've [literally] worked my ass off and and gotten my diet squared away I'm looking for someone that is willing to put the same amount of dedication into herself.
Muscle > No muscle.
Have you ever felt self-conscious when people comment that you are 'too big' (even though you think you are damn small)? I am sometimes in conflict with others' and my own perception of beauty.
Has anyone ever felt the same way? How to overcome such feelings?
Read my body blogs. Have and still do have problems with people thinking i'm too big and i'm not lol! Mostly men i found have the problem, or maybe my female friends are just keeping their mouths shut. I wrote a blog about being the beholder of your own beauty sums it up perfectly.

Way to whine about it and seek validation. I'm well within my right to neg you and you're well within your right to neg back. I could care less.
Figured. hahaha.... my ex was Romanian so your description of some of the culture was familiar lol.
Implying Romanian women are dead skinny and smoke like chimneys just shows what a narrow view you have of their culture.

This is exactly how I feel about men. When I was slightly overweight I could get into a skinny guy (though never fat) but now that I'm fit and work my ass off in the gym I want the same in a man. I want muscle and strength. Flexibility's a plus too. ;)
On Shape magazine's website they have an article about how magazines photo shop muscles off of models, actresses and athletes as well as adding weight to them. I don't see how "soft" in any way, shape, or form looks better than built. Strong is the new skinny.

Jimmies rustlin in the wind, lol.

You're comparing a positive association with a negative one. That makes a lot of sense.
I am very lightened up, thanks :)

French women also smoke like chimneys. Just like French men. What's racist about that? Every country has its peculiarities. No, of course they don't apply to every single person in that country, but cultures are cultures, they are something the people in a country have in common. Yes many women from Eastern Europe are skinny. In Italy they are considered very beautiful because of that. Mediterranean women tend to have curves, so skinny tall women are seen as 'exotic'. It's an insult only if you choose to see it that way.

Sure there are common social traits for every culture. Implying Romanian women are the poster child for weak, skinny and smoking women is not racist, merely ignorant and in incredibly poor taste, and I do choose to take offense in it. Quite a bit actually. My first neg..I was saving it for something special.

Fair enough, just saying nvrstopworking posts in the female forums regularly and he's not a troll nor does he try to offend folks. Just thought I'd say it. Back to weak smoking... I mean back to strong muscle ladies!!! :D

Stop..... take a breath and then go back and read the thread again. Specifically post #10 by Ellen Ripley.
Sy is also bang on. You've got your head in the sand if you can't accept the fact that very general stereotypes stem from SOME sort of truth. No one here is silly to think that they're absolutes (at least I would hope not).
Here are some more for you... My background in Jamaican and Trinidadian. We like curry and rotis. We also like Ice cream and watermelon. We also like warm weather and can't tolerate temperatures less than 20 deg C. We also all smoke Mary Jane and drink rum like water.
OMFG THE HUMANITY!! SOMEONE STOP ME BEFORE I SIN AGAIN!!!
The saddest thing is that rather than simply asking me to clarify my comment you chose to respond ignorantly.
Well I'm sorry toots... if you act like a jerk you deserve to get treated like one. No WK'ing for you today.

Are we Americans known for anything other than being fat? I sure hope so. Though walking around campus I can see why. Being a 28 year old woman with a body all these 20 year olds envy isn't really all that bad though :) And I'm just beginning lol. Though I have worked my ass off this past year to get to where I am.

Not sure why but young men seem to have an aversion to visible female muscle. I find it amusing.
