Nope, butt, legs and lower back sure maybe a little. And even if you do gain any size on your butt, legs or back you would have to bust some @$$ and really start squatting some weight. What is funny is that a lot of women do side bends, which eventually if done enough will kind of add muscle to the waist/obliques. Squat and don't worry, any muscle you gain will be great!
Squats are great ab builders so yes. But it's good increases, like direct ab exercises. Deadlifts and good mornings can also add muscle to your lower back that'll make your waist measurement larger. They don't affect the hourglass shape however like obliques can. Squat and deadlift away!
any one herd of gen tech
Heavy squats and deads will make your waist thicker...not just weighted oblique work. You're using your core muscles to a greater extent for the heavy weight.
Does this mean I'll ever stop...hell no!! Add some nice upper body size along with shapely legs and glutes and you'll have a solid overall balance to your physique.

does this mean that getting bigger in my waist area will kind of hide the width of my hips? i have really big hips..or at least they seem really big because i have a small waist. im pretty self conscious about my hips so itd be nice if that would even out the proportions between upper and lower body a little
