Using knee wraps
I've never worn wraps before so I don't really have a clue about them, was interested in lifting belt/wraps only though. If I was going to start a cycle and use knee wraps, at what percentages would I wrap my knees, like 80+, or would I have to run a program with a higher max if I was going to use wraps? thanks

I'd think you'd wanna just wrap them for your working sets or like you said anything over 80ish perecent.
I tried wraps this week and hated them. Felt like they messed with my form, so I guess they take some getting used to.
I like wearing knee sleeves to keep my legs warm without really offering much support.

[personally, i like to wear my knee wrap when I am closers to 90%. I have two pair of knee wraps that I use for training and comps. I the training pair i use I can easly wrap myself where my comp knee wraps are a lot stifffer and I get my partners to help me out because I like them very tight.
These will not be comfortable at all. If they are then you are probably not wearing them tight enough.
Knee wraps add lb's to your squat so there will be a difference if you are going off %. I used sheiko and base my % off my knee wrap max and never used the knee wraps once while training and gained some very good strength. Hope this helps.

I also noticed that knee wraps tend to be more comfortable when you have a wide squat stance. I train both wide and narrow stances(dont ask why) and the only time I just the wraps are on wide stance working sets.

thanks for all the replies, that was sort of my worry that since im running sheiko with a belt only max then it might be a little easy. I'll try using wraps for my work over 80 percent next week and just see how it goes

Good info in here on knee wraps, was debating on using some on squats but will add them now to my 80% or higher

I don't use them on anything but 1RM attempts. Unless you're an equipped lifter, I think using them on everything over 80% would be a mistake.

I agree. Use them only as much as you need to become comfortable in them.

IMO being an equiped lifter they would atleast help you get comfortable under heavier weight making you more confident when attempting 1RM raw,

since when were knee wraps supposed to be comfortable

This. I wore knee wraps for the first time this week, my partners made sure to wrap them extra tight for my first time -__-. Get angry at whoever is wrapping your knees and by the time you get under the bar the pain basically fades away, at least that's what I did.
