Well because glutamine is essentially useless to the weight training adult. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

LOL!
ok thanks you guys im glad i didnt waste my money on it then. So just creatine and Whey protein or should i add somthing else
At 18, and 5'll, 180... spend that money on whole foods my friend. Whey & creatine will help, but your diet will get you to where you want to go.

It all depends on your goals, but everything starts and ends with a good, nutritionally sound diet.
ok thanks
glutamine is useless??!! i dont mean to be rude but why wouldn't you want repair your muscles and accelerate your time going back to the gym? protein and glutamine are essential for losing or gaining weight! you tear down the muscle fibers when you work out so repair them!!! dont be nieve and think its a waste of money

Did you even read the thread Team Pun linked? It's pretty well known additional supplementation of glutamine is next to worthless....welcome to 2010.
So if someone was somewhat of a picky eat and their diet wasn't sound, then would glutamine be helpful to them?
All of you are correct but like contreras says up there it helps with RECOVERY. I went through your "link" and yeah glutamine is pretty much close to worthless when it comes to training in the gym. It is for post workout recovery gentlemen & lady. Dont think of it as a waste of money. Do more research on it before you go and label it as worthless. I personally take my pre workout supplement of "gunpowder" and mix my glutamine with my whey after every workout.

19 yr old bumps 4 year old thread in supp misc with 1st post about how great glutamine is
and all was right with the world
When working out you produce stress on adrenal glands, producing many chemicals includong adrenaline and cortisol, cortisol depletes your body and MUSCLES of magnesium which is highly connected to glutamine production and conversion ... When glutamine is depleted your muscle will not repair and being one of the big aminos that create protein synthesis and fat and sugar burn .. I'd say yeah.. Thats a huge deal. Every body builder should worry about 3 things. Diet which of course needs to have plenty I protein, glutamine and really all aminos with vitamin and minerals to be correctly absorbed, and magnesium as a top priority... If not. Well you're wasting your time
I have read into this some and this is the question I have. Another article on this site said that glutamine makes up a large percentage of skeletal muscle structure ( I wanna say that the article said 80% of skeletal muscle, I could be dead wrong.) so my question is that if I supplement with glutamine, I am not expecting to gain muscle with it, but will supplementing glutamine keep the skeletal muscle I have intact and not reduce it when it needs it to biosynthessize?

If you're taking in sufficient dietary protein then you won't really notice any benefit from extra glutamine. It's pretty easy to get enough through your diet thus it's just a waste of money really.
Strong Bumps ITT tho lol
Bumping 2Yr thread.. Glutamine is found in protein itself. You eat 5-6 time a day, 275-350g of protein in your diet ? You got PLENTY of BCAA even non essential AA. You dont even "NEED" to supply BCAA or glutamine. Someone eating 2-3 time a day offcourse, that guy @3 meal a day shouldnt even train even on weight gain or weight loss. Someone serious and want to MAXIMIZE your diet... go for it for a good post workout addition. Supplements is all about maximisation of your diet, there no secret or anything MORE to add if you dont already have the BASE. Just a proper training, sleep, good splitted macro and learn how to train and uses your genetic, understand how the body works, and how EVERY macro work on the body, how BMR works, how metabolism work, how fat, protein and carbs work with glycogen proprety... Use or waste your time.

Glutamine didnt give me any noticeable effects
There were too many people on this thread that were For and Against Glutamine. I'm a newbie and wanted to know if beneficial or not.
I've been eating about 450g of protein. I uped my weight for two weeks and did not take any Glutamine and man was I sore; three or four days. Then, for two more weeks I uped my weight and took Glutamine; although there was still some soreness, there was a very noticeable difference in the intensity of the soreness and recovery time.
Glutamine is pretty cheap IMO. Try it and see if it works for you or not. It works for some, but may not work for everyone.

That's what I'm thinking! I just bought it for the fist time cus my friend has been using it for a couple of months now and she made a huge progress so far.
Djcontreras23 how many grams should I take per day? Im a female 5'3" 33 years old and weight 133 thanks
Protein is made of amino acides, and if you're getting enough protein, you are normally getting enough amino acids. If you're serious on making sure you get the best recovery possible, Glutamine is a good way to supplement you're diet. I also read somewhere that as you get older, it gets harder for your body to pull the glutamine out of your protein, so for older bodybuilders its suppose to help to make sure you recover fast.
I am finding glutamine supp and I've noticed it is easier to maintain and build muscle. I use about 5g a day.
