I would swear I have an old magazine where he said he did a bench show the day after training chest and got 225lbs for like 81 reps? I may be totally wrong. I will have to see if I still have the magazine.
I have actually got 225lbs for 21 reps which is something im pretty proud of.
i finally have got it for one rep now! so proud. but goddam, that is ridiculous.

I read that also a while back. Some guy who was a bench pressing guru (or something) challenged Ronnie to see who could do more reps with 225. The guy did 59 and Ronnie did 79. I'm sure they were the shorter-range, Ronnie-style reps, but still, that is ridiculous. Arnold said he could do 60 reps of 225.

GJDM I couldn't do that if my life depended on it when I was 145lbs.
that is unreal.
Hell, I repped 225 for 14 reps last year. For me to rep something 81 times, it would have to be like 90lbs! That is INCREDIBLE muscle endurance.
I finish with 235 for 6. I don't think I could rep 145 81 times
I can barely do 5 lol

jimmy pellechia. He's not a bench guru, he's a f ucking idiot, who advocates "Assisted lifting" where your spotters half deadlift while you bench, but you know they're doing it, and you do multiple sets of 10 with like 50 pounds over your max
and I'm pretty sure this was done in the bench cage at the arnold a few years ago and yea it was somewhere around 70 it was 71 I believe

Funny you mention that, guy at my work used to own a training gym, but got shut down due to tax fraud. He thinks you should take your max and have a spotter help you get it 6-8 times to learn the feel of that type of weight.

When you push this weight for over 20 reps, you are pushing it with ease and fast pace rep wise, it almost becomes impossible to go all the way up and becomes an illusion it's a half rep, but really isn't..
After my full chest workout i'll blast out 135 for 50, i'll stop at 50 but can't do much beyond that, for these guy's to be doing 224 for 80, is just unreal as I said before.!!!!

Yea..maybe im off a little? Its been a long time ago that I read it. Still anything over 30 is pretty amazing no matter the size of the guy.
Holy. 225x80!! Just imagine doing that..ahhh.
I got 225x4 at 145lbs. If only I didnt jack up my shoulder in HS playing basketball :(.
even if they were ronnie reps, thats insane... i heard he was in contest condition/it was the day of the show.. i think it was the arnold...
