Ok thanks yall have helped alot. Also do you think that lifting 280 pounds on a leg press is avreage or pretty strong for a 13 year old. P.S. i play football so i try to do alot of leg workouts.

1. Hardly anyone will care what you leg press, your squat is much more significant
2. Don't worry about what's "average" or "strong" for your age. Worry more about form, and progression.
dont listen to these retards lifting heavy at a young age will cause your growth plates to close sooner then normal not allowing for your full potential. if your gonna lift stick to the 12-15 rep range.
Genetics
Just lift

Ok, this is probley a stupid question and all yall probley gonna laugh at me but should i do squats on the squat machine or what i call real man squats? Also the owner of my gym told me that the leg press was the best leg workout, is that true?
im 12 and wat is this
you should be good to go friend
im 12 and wat is this
What do u mean? Do u mean what is a leg press?
As long as you don't hurt yourself and do the lifts correctly , you won't have any problems. lift on.
Will i see better results if i lift heavy but dont have good form or lift light and have awsome form? My dads tells me to have good form and lift enough weight to b able to have good form.

you HAVE to have good form, but lift as much as you can while maintaining that good form
Ok that is what i do, so i guess i'll see results hopefully soon.
Bitter hasn't answered one of these questions in a long time.
Weight lifting does not directly stunt your growth. <3

Lifting heavy does not mean toss form out the window, it's cruicial to preventing injury, and that's the last thing you want at 13

Do squats. Do squats free weight.
Ok thanks

It's a matter of context. For him, it might be the best option. For a young athlete training for football & overall size, free form squats would probably be best.

Stunted growth comes from injury, not the exercise itself. It's like if I told you that soccer causes stunted growth. Can you injure yourself & stunt your growth by playing soccer? Of course. Was it the sport itself that caused the problem? No, it was the fat kid who sat on you.
As far as probabilities go, as long as you use proper form, you're more likely to injure yourself playing football than lifting weights.
I started messing with weights when I was 13 ( 2 months ago) still I have grown about an inch since I started seriously lifting. Not true what you read or heard.
Definitely work on good form. And free weight squats are better than leg press because it works more muscle groups like your lower back and abs.
The only reason why you should be doing leg press is because you screwed your back up.
And you must've done some crazy intense sh*t to do that at 13 years.
...By the way...
...YES! FELLOW 13 YEAR OLD!
That stunting growth stuff is all BS. I've been lifting weights since I was 12 and I'm 14 now and 6 feet. Just don't do anything dumb while lifting so you won't have a growth plate fracture.

Many people tend to say that it does , but it's not true . Most of people avoid doing deadlifts and squats because of that , but aslong as you keep good form , there's nothing wrong that can happen . So don't worry about it
