One bicep bigger than the other?!?!

I don't have picture unfortunately but I have been BACK in the gym for only 2 weeks and it seems that might left arm is significantly bigger than my right. I went to the gym for 3 months last year but quit and now I'm back.

Anyways my left arm/bicep has the slightest bit of tightness in it, as if I just finished a workout while my right arm is feeling 100%. Is there any logical reason why my left arm is so much bigger than my right? I am not stupid and workout only my left arm by itself. All my workouts are equal as they should be...

Maybe in the gym when I do preacher curls, am I favoring the left side without knowing until now?

if you are right handed and do something like preacher curls you will use your left arm more without knowing it because that is your non dominant hand thus making it harder to lift so you try harder.

just focus on lifting with both arms equally

How much bigger is the other arm? It's quite normal that your weaker arm/side is less muscular than the stronger. My left arm has always been about 1cm(0.4 in) smaller than the right one, and my left side in general seems to be smaller. I started using dumbbells for all exercises because my right side always does most of the work. My chest has evened out noticeably ever since I started doing dumbbell bench press. You might wanna give it a try too.

This is a funny thread. I'm laughing because I thought I was the only one experiencing this. When my recent measurements were taken, my left bicep was slightly bigger than my right. And, I'm right-handed which is really weird?????

My brother's arm is just like that. My first thought is that the diff is caused by fat and water. He has a slightly high body fat %.

What difference in size are we talking about? Usually it happens that one arm is stronger/bigger than the other. This is mainly because of one being left handed or right handed. A right handed person would naturally have slightly bigger and stronger right arm. So don't worry about it unless the difference is relatively great.

My biceps are equally strong, but my right has a much larger peak than my left, whereas my left is more stretched out and looks like a larger muscle.

bet you notice one arm gets tired quicker when doing single arms too. usually people(w/o realizing it) squeeze harder on thier non-dominate arm(left for you) because the other one "goes up easier". lift slower and concentrate on the squeeze, should help, and get a better pump.

My right arm is 1cm bigger than my left arm, I'm not too worried unless it starts to increase.

thats not the case with me and a few others in this thread. i am right handed and my left bicep is much bigger/thicker than my right. i already said why this happens tho, just gotta make sure your using the same amount of energy with both arms during exercises.

This. If you have any significant muscle imbalances and you are just getting back into the gym, the best idea is to use as many, if not all, unilateral movements as possible. Continue training with unilateral movements training the weaker side first (or maybe alternating weak/strong/weak/strong etc. with something like bicep curls), and never do more reps on the strong side than on the weak side. For example, if you do ten bicep curls with your weak arm, only do ten with the strong one, even if you feel you can do more.

Keep working out like this until they begin to even out. I would suggest doing this for at least a month. When they even out, then you can use bilateral movements. If you continue doing bilateral movements when one muscle is weaker, you are likely to favor (ie. tilt the weight onto) the strong side, furthering this imbalance. This is what I have been doing to even out my arms mostly and a little bit my pecs too. Good luck.

A couple people are saying that because we are right handed, during workouts we use our non dominant hand/arm more.

After reading what people have been saying I suspect that maybe because of this, our non dominant arm gets bigger because we simply don't use it as much in our daily lives. Thus, our non dominant arm gets bigger because it is reacting more to the weight lifting than our dominant arm. Our left arm is compensating for this "new" exercise while our dominant hand is used more in daily life so the exercise isn't as "new".

This is all my personal "theory" or opinion so I'm not claiming it's true.

Don't worry I'm right hand dominant and I'm stronger in my right side but it's the smaller arm my about 1/4-1/2"

I have the same issue^ it's pretty fackin annoying, but just remember that when people see you they don't go "Did you see that left bicep is different than the other", you just probably noticed it one day and have been focusing on it. ? Agree anyone? It's not that big of deal. But still.

im right handed... my right bicep is bigger but also less toned.

ive been trying to carry heavy things and other things like that in my left hand..open doors. get off the couch.. all with my left.. try to make it stronger that way

Same problem...except quite a bit smaller. I am right handed and my left is about 1/4 inch bigger than right. I don't really care though lol

LOL i'm in the same boat. My left arm is half an inch bigger than my right....I'm right handed...but I do fap quite vigorously with my left hand.

i think it's mostly genetics, even the pros have different shaped arms

My right arm is bigger/stronger than my left, because I broke my left arm 4 times... yeah -_-

Just do a couple more sets/reps on the weaker side!

same for me. Im right handed but my left is bigger and toned compared to my right which is bit smaller and less toned. Sigh: At the gym I usually use dumbbells and try do few extra reps of curls for my right, been few months havent seen much change lol. Gotta live with it I guess

I know this is an old thread but i thought i would write a post that mine is the same way, my right has a larger peak and my lest stretches out more...

my biceps are the same im right handed but my left has a nice rounded muscle and my right bicep is more long with less of a peak

looking at pics of arnold back in his best days even he had slightly diffrent biceps so i think its pretty normal aslong as its not a huge diffrence ?

Mine left bicep is 1 inch larger than right. I am also right handed
