I know it has a lot of calories but since it's only a liquid does it help you gain weight like normal food would? Maybe it gets processed different? Anyone have any personal experience with it?

I'm sure nobody here has had any personal experiences with whole milk. We're all about skim milk, chicken breast, and broccoli.
Drink up. Don't forget to add some Cinnamon Toast Crunch now and then.

And eggs sans the yolk! Like a bro.
It's great if it fits your macros. If it doesn't then don't drink it. I like to advise against consuming too much liquid calories as they tend to not be as satiating, however I do drink 2 cups of whole milk every morning, my only liquid cals.

I drink whole milk everyday(drinking it right now!) but I don't see it as making a big impact in putting on weight. Only time I put on weight is when I'm eating in excess of 4-5kcals.
whole milk, nonfat milk , fruit milk ......whatever does not make you gain Or lose weight. you gain weight when you eat more calories . so if you calculate your daily caloric intake , and it fits your macros , then drink it
If you couldnt absorb liquid calories, America would go on the chocolate ice cream peanut butter milkshake diet
