Help with my Polar HRM!

I was wondering if any of you could help me. Christmas 2008 I got a F6 polar HRM and the battery has died. EVERYWHERE I look says that it has to go to a service center in order to get the battery changed. I can't even figure out what type of battery it is to attempt to do it myself and there aren't ANY service centers in this state. Anyone have any clue what type of battery it is?

I am thinking about just getting a new one all together, I didn't realize it would be this difficult to replace a battery! Should have done my research I suppose. lol Thanks for any help!

Thanks, that's the site I was looking at. Unfortunately mine is the one that can't be done on your own and has to be taken to a service center. And they only have those in a few states. So I guess I'll just be shipping it off. Boo!

I have the polar f6 and recently got the battery changed in a regular watch repair shop. The only difference is that the battery they gave me will not work if the watch is in water. I think that is why they suggest you send it away to the repair centre to be replace the battery.

I wasn't bothered about my watch being waterproof anyway and I was impressed with how little they charged me in the watch repair shop. They said the battery should last for a year now too!

There was not an "authorized" dealer in my home town either, but I checked with my local running store, who referred me to a jeweler in town who regularly changes them. While you are technically "outside the terms of the warranty" by doing this, most running specialty stores know of a reputable jeweler who can do this. It's really just a watch battery.

I've had my Polar HRM for over three years now, and he's changed the battery 4 - 5 times with no problems.

This is what I did, find a good jeweler who could do it. You might have to look around a bit bc a lot of them won't want to touch it bc voids the warranty (same with Fossil watches). Make sure the jeweler has the ability to "seal" it back with one of those machines.
