Just as effective as Cheat Squats and Cheat Cleans.
I broke through my last squat plateau with half squats.
If you're using complete body momentum to literally throw the weight up, you're wasting your time. A controlled cheat is fine and generally considered useful in building bigger arms. I believe that if you're using the right amount of weight for your set, you should have to cheat a little on the last few reps.
IMO they are most effective for growth if you focus on the eccentric portion of the lift and don't just throw the weight and and let it fall back into the starting position.
