of all muscle groups ive seen ppl make progress on, calves would be riiiight at the bottom, u barely see it... if anyone has some good before n afters post em up! show us there's hope without relying on genetics.

my calves are on my bodyspace
took them the other day they can be my before and
il post my new calf pix up in a few weeks
I have a 3 month pic of my calves. I do not have a before pic. I can say that when I started my legs had absolutly no definition at all and were pretty wimpy although they were fairly large in size. I agree that calves are pretty low on alot of peoples agenda. I am real into leg training and really kick the **** out of my legs.
bumppp!!! come on people
prove me wrong, cause i honestly dont think many people can ever add much size to their calfs no matter what they do.

damnit...I definitely have added considerable size to my calfs (especially the outer head which most ppl have trouble developing)..only issue is I don't have the before pic. I just know I had virtually no visible outer head, now it's almost caught up to my inner head.

It doesnt stop ppl from trying, id do anything but bend over and have my training partner sit on me ( i have to much respect for myself) :p
i wish i had a before pic. seems like i've added some pretty decent size

Not much difference from what I can see but I'm not done with them yet!
I might have some before pics, though I'm not sure and I'm also not home at the moment to look for 'em.
I did gain about 2 inches on each of my calves however in about a year. They were also on the bottom of the totem pole for me, so I neglected/forgot to work them often... I would work them on average 3 times a month. Wish I didn't, because they would be bigger if I was more serious about them.
When I did work them in that time span I concentrated on strength (rep range 3-5) and elaborate slow controlled movement on the way up as well as on the way down. Nice stretch at the bottom and a nice squeeze at the top.
After that, I started focusing more on them--In addition to the strength session I also added in a hypertrophy day in which I concentrated on high reps (10-20). But also with controlled form. If I could start over I would also add this hypertrophy day.

you already had good calfs, i should of been more specific i mean for people who don't have the good genetics with not much there and then gained some good mass on them.. these are the people i dont think exist :p
^^ Haha so true....
I'm so glad you made this thread, besides my chest my calves are my bodyparts that I struggle the most with. I mean at least my chest grew a little. My calves won't budge and I've tried everything.

I do nothing but seated calf raises due to severe lower back pain. I usually throw on 5 45lb plates and do 4-5 sets of 15-20 reps.
For the record, I wasn't born with these 18 1/2" footballs, I used to work legs more than any other body part years ago. I only recently got back into the gym about 8 months ago. It sucks getting injured.
I just took some before pics. Now i just need to keep hitting them hard.
So the guys walking around with hugh calfs have them from genitics?
I think you can get them bigger, mine have grown in the past year. I have the other before and afters, just not calfs. :(

maybe some have built them, i dont know.. i was hoping to see some people show its possible, but i never have.
Ive seen small skinny guys who dont even workout and have big calfs with awesome shape, its painful to see!

Im still working on mine. I'll prove you wrong and im a skinny guy.
I did see this dude at my gym the other day that had some CRAZY calfs. They had to be as big as my thighs. After EVERY excersize he would bounce his calfs on the back of the incline stand for 30 or so reps throughout his whole workout. It was proof enough for me... Everyone would stop and look at his calfs. haha
