Ok....
Here is the deal. Back pain is damn near unavoidable in powerlifting, strongman, highland games, or any other strength sport. You are going to have form slips that can cause injury or chronic pain. You are going to have to drag yourself out of bed in the morning and stand in a hot shower for a half hour to loosen your back up. You may have to figure out how to lift with a herniated disc. You may have to deal with one leg being longer than the other that causes the pain. You may have to train around an old sports/car accident/freak injury.
You have two options:
1) Keep whining about it and let it affect your training without doing anything about it like a giant p*ssy.
2) Find a way to train around it. This can be keeping up with the chiropractor, finding another chiro that deals with strength athletes (if the first one didn't), corrective exercises to strengthen yourself through the entire ROM (even yoga can help there), reducing intensity/volume/frequency while still finding a way to add lbs to your total.
I know that there are several on this board that have back issues including myself (spondylosis), Dtaps (prolly chronic), DanG (herniated disc), Tarheel (fused vertebrae) and several others. None of them are sitting around going "When I lift my leg, my back hurts. Maybe I tore something."
Figure out a way to train so that your back doesn't hamper your progress in the long term. Perhaps that is a step back in the short term, but will allow larger steps forward in the future. Ben Rice changed a few things because of a back condition....but he came back stronger from it. This is what you need to do. Figure your sh*t out and get to progressing.
Why was I not awared of this brilliant post???
Thanks for the shout out Paul :D
Got a meet coming up April 13th fam. I will post squat vids.
It brings the lulz to see spotters hold their hands in the air like they're holding a lighter at a Ratt concert during a power ballad when I unrack the bar and set up.
It also brings the lulz to see me squat but that's another story :p

Only works if you catch them in the act. If its more than a few minutes the dog will just be confused about why they're being hit.
Good. We did some walk outs with 435 & 460. Jim got 460 on his back & tried to squat it, we had to save him. He did 435 for a tripple tho, pretty beastly. Ordered a new belt, royal blue/13mm/single prong/xtra large
Hit 435 tonight and 405x3, comeatmebro.jpg

Have any of you guys pinched a nerve in the wrist due to low bar squatting? I have a shoulder injury that keeps me from really pulling my left shoulder back, and I think as a result that ends up with me having more wrist bend on that side. I have had numbness in my thumb and the tips of my index, middle, and ring fingers on that side for about 2 weeks now.
So one of my training partners says that Mendy is out of his shirt and may be going for his raw record this April.
So one of my training partners says that Mendy is out of his shirt and is gonna be going for his own raw record. He said he's opening with 730 and has hit a 2 board press in the high 7's. He said he plans on breaking the record this spring at his sister's meet in NJ.
I've also heard cows fly.......... due to his less then stellar performances/attitude once I see a video I'll believe it. Regardless it's extremely exciting if it's true having 4 people benching in the 700's.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing it. Mendy was one of the most disappointing posters I've seen on this site (on the misc specifically if people didn't know he made an appearance for a few months last year). He signs up, posts a spoon pic, every gets awared on who he is, and gets excited. He then started to make all these statements about things he was gonna do, but then never followed through on them at all. First he was gonna bench 1100 in gear at some fit expo, but then he said he got sick and it ruined it. Next he said he was going to try and break his previous rep PR raw with 365, which was supposed to be like over 50 reps - again never happened. I think there was one more thing but I can't remember off the top of my head... All the while he tried to push his (or maybe it's his friend's) chitty supplement line. It would be awesome if he did do it, but I just don't think he has it in him anymore personally.

I don't think you'd like training at SBB...
Damn. Only slept for 3hrs. I'm hungry, too. Sleep will not be coming back to me for a few hours, I presume.
The wife and I might be moving to Alaska this Summer/Early Fall for 2 years (internship program). Not sure what to think about it yet....... brb growing longer beard and hibernation bulk
Where at? Maybe we can be friends.
maybe anchorage or Kodiac Island. Any good spots to lift there?

There are a couple good places in Anchorage.
Heavy Metal Gym is expensive, but Adam has the best strongman stuff in the state.
Southside Strength and Fitness is very reasonably priced, and its a good powerlifting gym. Good bars, good weights, a mono attachment, plenty of racks, decent benches and bumper plates. A few world champion(usapl) lifters lift there. Good training atmosphere when the crews are lifting.
There are a couple good crossfit gyms there, too. Crossfit Evolution, Crossfusion and Crossfit Alaska all have good reputations.
Not too familiar with Kodiak. I know there's a powerlifter/bodybuilder that owns a gym down there. It might be a Golds Gym? His name is Lindsay Knight. Cool dude.
