Leucine can cause insuline spikes. Does this not mean that during a cut where you don't want insuline, spikes except directly after the workout, leucine should not be taken? And what about the diabetes risk? Does taking leucine or bcaa powder raise the diabetes risk? I don't know exactly how huge those insuline spikes really are.

i was not aware that leucine or any bcaa's caused an insulin spike... imo, its good for cutting since it keeps your muscles loaded with valuable amino acids and puts a halt to catabolism, especially during cardio or lower calories.

1)Yea, amino acids cause an insulin spike.
2)The presence of amino acids may stimulate protein synthesis, regardless of the presence of carbohydrates, because they're insulogenic.
3)Spiking insulin in a caloric deficit and in the presence of amino acids is not going to cause fat gain; it's going to cause muscle repair.
Does this mean that part of the amino acids are oxidized by the body and because of this you get an insuline spike?

You want insulin on a cut.
The spike of insulin is two fold. To repair muscle and to blunt cortisol.
Does it raise the diabetic risk? Not really.
I think that everyone's insulinic response is pretty individualized and involves all the food one consumes. If you were just consuming leucine who knew.
I consume more BCAAs on a cut than I do on a bulk

The question is not if it spikes insuline but how much it spikes it and if this is negative.
leucine on a cut is not worth worrying about, take it post workout.
personally on a cut, things like creatine/leucine/BA/etc are essential just to hold onto strength.
At the end of the day, it won't impact significantly on weight loss, given you know how to cut correctly.
I often observer it's those that over look the obvious and the basics that go nit picking like its the answer to why they haven't been losing. (not pointing at anyone in particular)
