Any overhead extension movement hammers the long head very well
Isolate no, emphasize yes.

The only way I could think of 'isolating' the long head (in terms of not hitting the medial/lateral) would be to do something involving shoulder extension and not elbow extension, like pull ups, lol.
the only exercise i know of that isolates the long head, and does not use the other two, is the straight arm pushdown.
it does of course use other muscles, like lats, but the long head is the only tri head.
low cable kickback with just the ball on the end of the cable

Um, I realize that the long head would be the only muscle changing length during this movement, but surely the other heads would be working isometrically to maintain elbow extension...

isn't that more for the medial head?
long head.
try it, is all i can suggest. use light weights, high reps. while i am not one to go for a "burn", sometimes doing so is useful to identify exactly what muscles are being hit.

In my experience, what matters most is your elbow angle. If you flare your elbows out, you'll hit more of the medial head. If you tuck your elbows, you'll hit more long head. Or back arms I think they're called, lol.
ETA: The reason for above might be because of the type of motion. Pushing motions like a press seem to work the medial more, and extending motions like suicides work the long head. It's pretty difficult to try and isolate one or the other.
Talk about people over analyzing sh*t.
All triceps exercises engage all 3 heads to some degree. No way around it.
Also it's absolutely retarded imo, to do an exercise which focuses on other muscle groups just to engage the long head half ass.
Over head extensions, skull crushers, French press best reach the long head.
isn't that more for the medial head?
How would this be emphasized over the lateral head?
Over head extensions, skull crushers, French press best reach the long head.
I get overhead since it's maximally stretched, but aren't skullcrushers or french press done only slightly above 90 degrees in front of us? That doesn't seem like it would stretch it as much.

LOL Really??
See those little * things by each head of the tricep for the given exercise? Pick the ones that have more of those next to long head...
