I eat cheese with almost everyday on my keto diet.. It doesnt kick me out. And it has no carbs so thats impossible. were did you hear that from?
Cheese will cause you more problems calorie-wise than carb-wise. It's very easy to go overboard on portion size.

i have 1oz pepperjack cheese or 2 tbs cream cheese or 1/3 cup chedder cheese with every meal.... watch the calories but it a great keto food
cheese sticks are your friend!
just make sure you get the full fat sharp cheese which usually read 0 carbs per serving.
since mid dec. I have only been eating cheese bars and eggs for the most part.
been running quite fine on them, eating tuna some now as well, and of course whey protein, fiber, and multi-vitamins.
Just assume that most common cheeses have 1g of carb per oz. 1/4 cup of shredded cheese should be an oz.
Do not worry.
First of all yes "Lactose" would kick you out of keto, hence milk is avoided. But Cheese is made by adding bacteria to milk which uses all the lactose as its food and hence converts it into cheese and thats why the sweet taste is lost and also most of the carbs.
But still most cheeses have some carbs in them around 1g of net carbs in a 2oz serving.
And worry about the calories in cheese more than the carbs , but don forget they are an important part of keto diet... at least for me.
out of interest.....how much lactose is threshold ? or is it person dependent ?
I have probably 4mm milk in a mug with my tea still
The amount of carbs that you ingest in a day before you slip out of Keto is the same, regardless of the source of the carbs. Lactose is a carb, so count it with your carbs.
That 4mm of milk in your tea, is probably good for 1-2 grams of carbs (lactose)...at a guess.
