Do MEN need IRON???
Hey guys, just out of curiosity, should men take a multi-vitamin that includes iron or are we better off iron-free?
I also know that iron is cancerous is men...does anyone know why??? And speaking of which, what's the best multi-vitamin you've had experience with?
Thanks and God Bless.

Because a male's body can not get iron out of his system. Take an iron-free vitamin. One-A-Day for Men cheap and decent.

i think if u bleed or lose blood then u loose iron

In general go iron-free unless of course you have some medical reason for needing iron.

No, Iron is not for men. The only reason women need iron is because they have their periods and need Iron.

Thanks to everyone that replied, I will go iron-free. Peace.

Incorrect iron is needed for the production of blood, however if you already get a lot from meat or other food sources then its not needed. Too much can cause problems but I highly doubt the 18mg in most multis is going to be a problem.

True, but iron in a multi will negate some of the other ingredients anyway. Men as a general rule don't need iron, and if you need iron don't take it in or with a multi, take it by itself at some other time in the day.

Iron supplementation would differ based on age, gender and health history. Women, indeed, may need to supplement with iron because they lose iron in their premenstrual period. Men actually want to be careful not to overload on iron because it can lead to “hemochromatosis”, a condition of iron-overload in the body, which can lead to heart disease risk. The iron DRV is 8 mg (I believe), and in general won’t hurt, unless one gets too much iron from food.

They really say that men don't need iron. In fact it is suggested you give blood to clear excess iron from the blood.

What's a really good,Outstanding Multi you guys recommend without Iron Free? Thank You

Does this = “with iron”? :)

the skin of an apple has iron in it just eat that if u want some iron
-
Of course
Of course men NEED iron, the question is do men need to SUPPLEMENT with iron. If you eat a normal or high amount of red meat, then you probably do not need supplemental iron. If you are a vegetarian however, you may need to supplement. Either way, there is a daily dietary requirement of iron for men.

men get enough iron in their diet, especially men who eat bodybuilding type foods. DO NOT take a multi with iron in it, you dont need it and it can be harmful. Women are the only ones that can excrete meaningful amounts of iron, during menstruation, DITO does this too, :)

Get a blood test and talk to your doctor, it's the only way to know for sure.

Most men don't need supplemental iron. Most women do.
