Whole wheat=brown bread you'll get it at any shop that sells bread, white bread is stripped of pretty much any nutritional value. It's not bad for you, it's just not good.

ok thanks .
enriched white bread lol...
Thats a marketing scam to make you think its healthier.
Rule of thumb - anything white in color is less healthy than its counterpart.
Pasta for example... potatoes as well.
I believe its something like 30 more vitamins and minerals in whole wheat than white bread... I forget.
Also it really doesn't taste much different once you get used to it.

OP, if you are trying to gain weight ANY bread will give you calories. For some strange reason, people tend to think that foods that are white (white sugar, white bread, white flour, white rice) are bad, while foods that are brown (whole-wheat flour and bread, brown rice, honey, molasses, brown sugar, raw sugar, etc.) are good. This is nonsense. Aside from the fair amounts of some minerals in blackstrap molasses, none contribute significant amounts of any vitamins and minerals.
Now, if OP doesn't get adequate fiber, minerals/vitamins from veggies and other stuff he eats, then he may benefit from these goodies in 100% whole wheat bread, but if he nutrition is already dialed in properly, then there is no legitimate reason to bastardize white enriched bread.
I personally hate white bread, always have, always will. Whole wheat bread is the way to go, no matter what your goal is. plus its got fiber, which is always good in anyone's diet.

sir, we do not tolerate racism here.
honestly dude i do chose wheat bread, well i chose wheat everything even down to whole wheat pasta just cuz it is simply better for u so same amount of calories most of them time and protein but white bread is more sugary and all that
potatoes as well.
Gonna have to elaborate on that there, do you mean sweet potatoes and stuff?
Gonna have to elaborate on that there, do you mean sweet potatoes and stuff?
yea as far as i have been told sweet potatoes are a bit healthier. Don't quote me there though i may be wrong.
Have your white bread in your post workout meal, it's fast digesting carbs.
*Could possibly be broscience*

White bread is HORRIBLE, dont eat it...White bread has no nutritional value and it will spike your insulin which will screw up your insulin sensitivity if you eat it this much! It is pretty much the same as eatting sugar, it has no nutritional value whatsoever and will cause a big insulin spike..
Only eat whole wheat or whole grain bread, but limit your bread in the day because it is a poor source of carbs, My Bodybuilding coach limits me to 4 a day,
Eat Oats and Brown Rice, those are good sources of carbs not white bread, your just wasting your time eating that it wont build muscle or do anything for you other than bad so why eat it?
After workout it is fine yes, because thats the time you want to spike your insulin(White bread) but there are better things to take to spike your insulin at this time like Waximaise or Dextrose

Thank you Dc-Money for clearing this up.
OP listen to him, he knows what he's talking about. White bread really doesn't have any nutritional value at all -____-
White (enriched) bread is the emptiest calories you can get. It has no nutritional value either and the GI value is high as well. Most of it gets turned into fat.
whole wheat ftw

well actually you did.
fact of the matter is OP is trying to gain weight. white bread may have less vits and mins than brown bread, but, cals are cals.
eating white bread instead of brown bread will NOT make him fat, OP is 150lb he should jus eat and not worry about stupid **** like brown bread, brown rice, brown brown brown. it will make jack **** difference at the end of the day.
obviously if OP wants to be super healthy, then eat all the whole grains etc. but there is nothing wrong in eating white bread.

You're just an idiot, OP needs to gain muscle not fat. If white bread will make him gain weight, but that weight is going to be more fat than good nutrition, wtf is the point of it?
Maybe he should just eat a bucket of lard.

I suggest that you take a look at the side of a loaf sometime. A popular brand is "Wonder." Two slices of either Wonder Classic White bread or Wonder Classic White Sandwich bread have the same amount of calcium as an eight ounce glass of milk. Look at the non-zero numbers next to Vitamin D, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Iron, Thiamine, and Niacin

Unless you are eating half a loaf of bread at one time in a fasted state with no other food (no fat or protein) then the GI is really a waste of time to worry about.

If you are serious about your training, I really doubt you should be wasting your time with white bread, It does nothign for you..empty calories which do not help muscle gains which im assuming is his goal, and it is comparable to sugar, as it is stripped of its nutrients
You need to train and diet serious if you want to make goals, White bread does give an insuilin spike, and it is Horrible..you will not benefit eating it. If you are trying to stay as lean as possible to you should be worrying about the GI of the carbs you are eatting
All I am saying is it is a poor source of carbs and you should not waste your time with it if you are serious about your diet. Why not eat oats or Brown rice youll benefit more,
But oh wait white bread has "two slices of either Wonder Classic White bread or Wonder Classic White Sandwich bread have the same amount of calcium as an eight ounce glass of milk. Look at the non-zero numbers next to Vitamin D, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Iron, Thiamine, and Niacin" ...
