i usually have an apple 25-30 mins before.
Oats work awesome for me.. Given that I have a good amount..

1 cup or 1/2 cup?
I will sometimes have a sandwich with whole wheat bread, or a baked potato, whole wheat cereal, a banana or an apple.
When I have a cup (dry) of oats pre workout I usually have super high energy and an awesome workout. Breakfast is my pre workout meal so as long as I have a big breakfast it gives me an awesome workout and holds me down throughout the day on my cut.
none, dont do Carbs pre training or intra, post only and usually under 75 grams Carbs post

What is your reasoning for "no carbs pre-workout"?
What is your reasoning for "no carbs pre-workout"?
I think this is personal preference more than anything. Theres a lot to back up fasted weight training, if you check out sites like leangains.com theres a ton of info and studies on it. Personally, I don't eat carbs before I train, but I'm doing PSMF so I don't really have a choice lol.

Why do you wonder if I'm serious, Last weeks pics were sub 7% and this week I am twice as Vascular and even more ripped than those pic's and still carrying good muscle tone at 4 weeks out. I do not beleive in 1. Starting my day with carbs and that includes Oatmeal, and 2. ingesting pre training Carbs or intra carbs Neither does Dan Duchaine, Ori Hoffmalker, Polumbo, or McDonald, Cordain or any of the other Keto, Paleo style Nutrition minds. You dont need Carbs before or during unless your goal is to bulk up. You want your body to fuel on Fats during your Training and Post w/o is a good time to give the body a small amount that will stimulate your Hormonal system ( as to much extreme low carb will shut down your Testosterone production).
I have more Energy and Drive without those carbs and High caloric Diets. hell Dude I bounce off walls all day Especially pounding weights in the gym. Extreme Caloric Restriction, Carbs under 30 grams daily except on Training days when I reach 100 grams, Medium fats, medium Protien. 7 days a week with 1 cheat carb up day, except now starting 4th week of Contest prep ( thier will be no more cheat days until after the show)
Most people are brainwashed into beleiving you need 6 mals a day and you need Carbs ect Horse****. I think the Warrior diet with some minor adjustments is the most productive diet for overall health energy and Athletics.

well, I am definately not gonna confront experience. But I really thought that it was all about calories.. Macros and times you eat are just to control your hunger.. its stuff like this that confuses me

Nope its not about calories its about meal planning and nutient timing. This is why I tell clients and kids at the gym to get it out of your mind that this is just about throwing some heavy ass weight around by a bunch of gym meatheads, this is a science and bodybuilders are some of the most intelligent and educated men and Women I have met. Books brother start reading well researched books and throw the bodybuolding mags away as they are junk.
By the way thx for acknowleging my backgroun, most of the younger lifters here want to argue and dismiss my background, although most that meet me in Person want to pic my brain lol.
Your welcome anytime, and thx for the reps.
Well wifey wants me to help clean house so nomore fun on the Internet later guys
Not arguing your experience.. but I do not agree with this being the optimal choice for most-- nor do I agree that the warrior diet would be optimal for most.
People need their energy and carbs pre-workout works wonders for that. Good energy and no hunger during a workout is what works for many...
As far as the warrior diet.. eating more than once a day will keep the majority satisfied.. as most find it necessary to respond to their hunger throughout the day.. it's just how it works..
People who 1) eat carbs pre-workout and 2) eat multiple meals a day.. have been people who have achieved GREAT results-- and results cannot be argued. Sure, your way might work for some, but not most-- nor is it guaranteed to be optimal for bodybuilding purposes.
Any fruit will do the trick.
Your energy comes from glycogen that is stored in your muscles created by carbohydrates. Assuming you already eat sufficient carbs your body will have enough glycogen stored in it's muscles to give you the proper energy to get you through your workout. Weather or not you eat carbs pw it will not make any difference.
Enjoyed listening to your brainwashing lol. Enjoy
