Maximal HR/Target HR measurements

Hi. Just learning about the Straight Percentage and Karvonen Methods for predicting someones target HR..

Curious what you guys use with your clients...

In case my text is different from yours, here is a rundown of what the two are...

Straight Percentage Method:
220 - age = estimated maximal HR
maximal HR x intensity (say 85%) = target HR

Karvonen Method:
[(maximal HR - resting HR) x intensity (say 85%)] + resting HR = target HR

220 - age come out as a low estimate. Karvonen is much more accurate.
