it doesnt necessarily have to be in 1 workout but rather spread throughout the day
probably not recommended unless your an mma fighter and gotta train that hard
Probably done in 100 rep sets I'd imagine. And as mentioned already probably spread over the course of an entire day.
Herschel Walker is in great shape for his age... but those pushups and situps are more for his endurance than building his physique for MMA.
All he does is bodyweight exercises and in an interview a month ago on PTI he said he only eats one big salad a day. He does this because thats what he likes. And he is a freak of nature all the way back to beforeUGA. A genetic wonder to say the least.
With only a salad daily, I would look drastically different than I do now.
This guy has always been a sort of freak of nature. Its hard to believe and often forgotten that he is 49 years old.
lol @ those of u buy into hershel walkers crap
Herschel Walker admitted to having multiple personalities, so I would really take most things he says with a grain of salt.
Hershel walker claims that he does all those body weight exercises and trains mma for 6-7 hours a day; while only eating large vegan salad at the end of the day. This is simply not possible. There is no way he could be eating enough Calories to maintain his weight and not physically break down from this diet.

As said, he's an amazing individual. He's definitely on the outside of the norm, and has said previously that he doesn't want people following what he does - because it's what works for him, and has worked for him since his college days.
He's an inspiration, and is simply amazing. He mentioned a while back something about coming back to the NFL. Not as in, he was going to try out, but just that he thought he could. And I certainly wouldn't bet against him. Too bad he has to age.
no he does the same thing that works for everyone....weights + conditioning
3500 sit ups + 1500 pushups, one second up and one second down, thats 2.8 hours of pushups and situps.
But I'm bad at math

These sound like lies, keep in mind that sometimes people lie.
I accept that he does a lot of BW and eats a lot of salad but we have little means of proving he doesn't do other exercises or eat other foods.
Plus, sometimes people load their salads full of chicken strips so it could be a full meal.

awesome football player, but really? his production was already diminishing before he left the league. i would bet against him.
Doesn't he also claim he only eats 1 meal a day which is salad? I'm pretty sure the guy is ****ing insane and literally doesn't remember working out and eating like a pig.
... I'm gonna call bull****.
I want to see him do that many sit ups for 1 week straight.
I think he's an awesome athlete but I just don't know if I'm believing it either.
Maybe each of his personalities had a different meal?:D
Seriously, if he's telling the truth about doing all those situps and pushups then as was mentioned, he probably spread them out during the day. Mental instability aside, the guy was a tremendous athlete, surely one of a kind.
my friend told me all this guy does is pull ups, sit ups, and push ups. I asked:
1. What about his legs?
2. How is he so big?
3. Why are you so dumb?
I havent followed shooto or MMA in awhile... but who the f*ck is this guy... one salad? I call bullsh*t. From a nutrition standpoint he'd be horribly undernourished unless it was filled with other stuff besides leafy greens and veggies/fruits.
waste of time to do that many every day if you ask me....
guy talks a lot of rubbish, forget the 1.5k situps, go heavy and low rep like any other muscle group

He's probably doing the whole "warrior" diet thing. 1 'meal' per day, but they are consuming yogurt, shakes, etc. all day long.
So even if they are eating 1 meal that is 500-1000 calories, they are still getting another 2500-3000 calories through liquid means.

Nah man, its just a bathtub full of salad, that he eats throughout the day. Like his pushups and situps.
It's still technically 1 salad right?
He's also made statements along the lines of "sometimes I train for six to eight hours a day while on a four day fast." It's all showmanship, and "lore" he tries to build him about himself. The laws of thermodynamics and chemistry still apply to Herschel Walker, as much as he would have you believe they don't.
That said, he's in amazing shape, no less as a 49 year old.

someone i know was locked up for 3-4 months, did 1000 push ups a day till he got out and gained ALOT of size in that short period of time, as long as its spread throughout the day shouldnt be any problem

lol... for real? you don't follow the NFL either?

He rarely eats because he doesn't often feel the craving for food. When he does eat, it's usually just a salad and bread.
He said sometimes his body tells him he needs more, so he eats other things. He never eats fried food.
I love how you all are making blanket, uneducated statements about his diet and training. Yes he has 6-8 hour training sessions. His trainer is the one who saw him go 4 days without food while training like that.
Yup a genetic wonder he is, I still remember in an interview he said he only "ate" a soup and a salad each day...but then his wife also chimed in and said he takes various protein shakes throughout the day so I guess he doesn't consider his shakes "food"...
